Martha, The Unsung Hero

Sometimes, I think Martha in the Bible gets a bad rap! I am not saying that Jesus labeled Martha at all. Please hear me out. But I think we would be wise to avoid picking up and holding onto some of the dynamics in this potential sibling rivalry between Martha and Mary. Sometimes we insert ourselves into the narrative, and we can twist it, and subconsciously view Martha with a negative connotation. I want to take a moment and give you a positive perspective that may redeem Martha’s reputation. Because, over the years I have learned that Martha is [...]

Prophet: Learning to Listen With Discernment

By |2022-06-29T10:28:13-05:00June 29th, 2022|Charisma Blog|0 Comments

Learning to listen with discernment means that you begin to recognize the voice of God so well that other voices sound unfamiliar. In John 10:5a, Jesus told his followers, “Yet they will never follow a stranger.” This statement needs to become a reality in your life. It takes practice and requires that you learn well the lessons in listening with discernment offered to all of us by the Holy Spirit. Why You Should Not Underestimate the Power of Coming Into Agreement

By |2022-06-20T11:29:05-05:00June 20th, 2022|Charisma Blog|0 Comments

Jesus told us to persist—continuously and tirelessly—in asking, seeking and knocking on the doors of heaven. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened" (Luke 11:9-10, NLT). Keep on doing it. Keep on keeping on. Keep on praying! I also want to urge [...]

Prophet: Why Courage Is Worth Its Sometimes Exorbitant Price

By |2022-06-13T14:14:15-05:00June 13th, 2022|Charisma Blog|0 Comments

Courage doesn't take a large bank account, big muscles or impressive beauty. It simply requires making yourself available and being willing to obey. And it is always worth it. Some of you may think that you are the most unlikely candidate for God to use to accomplish anything significant. Most of us think of ourselves in that way. The world teaches us that it is the rich, the powerful or the beautiful who are important and make a difference in the world. That's not what God teaches. He doesn't think or work the way the world does. The prophet [...]
