Amos 7:2-3: “When they had stripped the land clean, I cried out, “Sovereign Lord, forgive! How can Jacob survive? He is so small!” So the Lord relented. “This will not happen,” the Lord said.
Here, Amos sees the destruction God intends for Israel and cries out for mercy. God hears his prayers and relents! Amos teaches us the power of intercessory prayer. Even the judgments of God can be turned back by earnest prayer!
Amos stood in the gap for Israel, but we’re called to stand in the gap for our families, cities, and nations. However, there’s one nation all believers are called to pray for: Israel.
Standing in the Gap for Israel
Israel isn’t perfect. In fact, their sin level is pretty high. But, we don’t pray for them because they deserve it. No. We pray for Israel because God commands us to.
Since Israel became a nation in 1948, God has performed countless miracles to keep it a nation. The Yom Kippur War of 1973 is a prime example. Israel was outmatched in every natural measure, yet they managed to overcome!
It has been 50 years since the Yom Kippur War, and I believe Israel is entering yet another time of danger. Please join me in praying these Scripture verses over Israel:
- Psalm 121:4 – “Indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.”
- Jeremiah 31:10 – “… ‘He who scattered Israel will gather them and will watch over his flock like a shepherd.'”
- Malachi 3:6 – “I the Lord do not change. So you, the descendants of Jacob, are not destroyed.”
My Prophetic Sense for Israel
Nuclear Implosion: I’ve seen nuclear implosions underground in Iran that cause very few fatalities yet create a huge set back to Iran’s nuclear program. Please join me to pray this would be so.
God’s Shield of Protection: God has better protection for Israel than the iron dome – His supernatural shield. Let’s pray for God’s supernatural protection over all parts of Israel.
God’s Roadmap: God has a roadmap. Everything he’s set in motion, He will fulfill. God’s in control.
Closing Prayer
Father God, let a people arise who will cry out for the destiny of Israel and intercede effectively for Your purposes in the Middle East. Come, Lord Jesus, and do this for Your name’s sake. May You receive the reward of Your suffering for Jew and Gentile alike, in Jesus name!
God Bless You!
