You Can Be a Deliverer

“Better is one day in Your courts than a thousand elsewhere. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of wickedness.”

Psalm 84:10 NIV

Hello Friend,

I am so grateful to share what God has been speaking to me about this week for the DISCRNR’s Exhortation podcast. We are watching history unfold in the Middle East.

On Sunday, I shared a message titled, For Such a Time as This, where I revisited several prophetic impressions I have carried and shared about regarding Purim, Iran, and the times we are living in.

In the video, I shared my sense that the Purim season will mark a significant shift in Iran’s leadership— note the striking alignment between the 47th year of Iran’s current regime and the 47th presidency in the United States.

I want to continue to highlight this: Iran will run with the gospel, and we are already witnessing an extraordinary harvest of new believers rising in the nation.

In light of these events unfolding in the Middle East, I want to share an important exhortation for you to hear during this time.

You Can Be a Deliverer

This may sound like a bold statement, but it is a biblical one. Throughout history, we see God raising up ordinary men and women to carry His heart and bring freedom where there is bondage. In times of great shaking or transition, the Lord often calls His people to step forward in quiet faithfulness and courage.

One scripture that anchors this exhortation comes from Esther 4:14:

“Who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”

I also want to share another passage in this exhortation that captures the heart-posture of a deliverer, Psalm 84:10:

“Better is one day in Your courts than a thousand elsewhere. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of wickedness.”

These scriptures remind us that God positions people in specific moments for His purposes and that faithful devotion to Him matters more than platform or recognition.

It it through faithful devotion to Jesus that your heart will be prepared.

Deliverers Throughout Scripture

When we look through the Bible, we find deliverers everywhere.

Moses was a deliverer.
Joshua was a deliverer.
Deborah, Gideon, Samuel, and David were deliverers.
The prophets were deliverers.
Queen Esther was a deliverer.

And of course, Jesus is the greatest Deliverer of all.

Yet what is striking is that none of these individuals lived in constant moments of dramatic victory. Most of their lives were filled with ordinary faithfulness. Doing what God asked day after day.

The Power of Ordinary Faithfulness

Deliverers are not always the most visible people.

Often they are men and women who simply keep showing up. They pray. They work. They serve. They obey God in the small things. Day after day they “plod along,” as it were, doing what is right even when it seems unnoticed.

Faithfulness in the ordinary moments is often what prepares someone for the extraordinary moments.

Many of the great heroes of faith were simply people who stayed loyal, diligent, and persevering when others might have quit.

Christ in You, The Deliverer Within

There are moments in our lives when we feel ordinary, even insignificant. But the truth is that if you belong to Christ, something extraordinary lives inside you.

Christ in you, the hope of glory.

Sometimes we feel like Clark Kent, quietly going about daily life. Yet inside of us lives the power of the Holy Spirit, and when we walk in our assignment, that Spirit-powered life begins to rise up within us.

When that happens, an ordinary believer becomes a vessel through whom God brings freedom, hope, and breakthrough.

Persevering, Purified Deliverers

Life often places us in the tension between what is and what is not yet.

There are days when the journey feels heavy. Some of us face physical pain, personal battles, or difficult seasons where perseverance becomes a daily decision.

But the call remains the same:

Keep your hand on the plow. Keep your eyes on Jesus. Keep walking faithfully in your assignment.

The question is not whether circumstances are perfect. The question is whether we will choose to live as victims or as deliverers.

The Dream: Do What Matters

Years ago I had a dream during a time when I was seeking God about an important decision. In the dream I found myself flying toward a beautiful home surrounded by a garden. I saw a woman tending the flowers, and suddenly I recognized her: it was my great Aunt Mae.

She looked at me and spoke only three words:

“Do what matters.”

That simple phrase stayed with me when I awoke.

Not every decision in life is about the biggest opportunity, the largest platform, or the most visible assignment.

Sometimes the most important choice is simply to remain faithful: to choose character, perseverance, and devotion to the Lord.

Your Life Matters

Whether you are a businessperson, a teacher, a banker, a parent, or serving quietly in your church, your life matters.

God is not only looking for famous leaders. He is looking for faithful hearts.

Through a life of watching, praying, and walking in obedience, you can be ready when God calls you to step forward for such a time as this.

We are living in significant days. The Lord is raising up men and women who will reflect His heart and bring freedom wherever He sends them.

And that includes you. Your faithfulness matters. Your obedience matters. Your life matters. My hope and prayer is you take this message to heart and believe that you can be a deliverer.

If you’re looking for a resource to enrich this message, I want to encourage you to order a copy of my book, Lifestyle of a Prophet.
