Israel: The Apple of God's Eye

“For He who touches you [Israel] touches the apple [pupil] of God’s eye.”
Zechariah 2:8b

The board has been set and pieces are moving. Throughout the ages, it seems as if God has been waiting for His strategic moment. He is positioning His intercessory knights and prophetic bishops together for a sweeping move – one that all the world will observe closely.

No eye will miss the mysterious and fascinating day on God’s prophetic calendar when He once again steps into the world of space and time. It is time for the unveiling of the mystery of Israel as the apple of God’s eye, the crucial piece on God’s chessboard.

Seeing Through God’s Eye

During a special time of worship, I saw an open vision of an eye staring right at me. In the middle of this eye, I saw the Star of David. As I gazed more intently upon the vision, I saw a Scripture reference written in the middle of the Star of David. The Scripture that I saw was Zechariah 2:8. But what could that mean?

At that time I did not have the foggiest idea what “Zechariah 2:8” referred to. So I turned in my Bible to Zechariah and read the following: “For he who touches you [Israel], touches the apple of His eye.”

Some other translations render the phrase “apple of God’s eye” as “the pupil of God’s eye.” So the apple of the eye is the pupil, and the pupil of the eye is the instrument through which one sees. He who touches Israel touches the center of God’s eye – the center of God’s sight.

A more blunt way of saying it could be, “The one who knowingly mistreats Israel pokes God in the center of His eye!” I would not do that if I were you.

If you want to have an accurate prophetic perception of life, Scripture, and God’s purposes in the Earth – especially in the days before Christ returns – you must have God’s vision.

You must see through God’s eyes and then hold dear to your heart the things that are closest to the heart of God. Since Israel is at the center of God’s vision, we will need to see through the lens of Israel’s destiny if we are to see correctly and clearly.

Please understand that this is not an ethnic issue; this is a God issue. The primary issue is not about a race of people. This is about a promise-keeping God who is faithful to fulfill His plan for a people, a city, and a nation through that which He has chosen to display His splendor.

This is about God’s faithful nature and character being on lavish display for all to observe and know. This is about seeing properly through God’s Eyes.

In Our Day – In Our Times

I am often asked, “what time is it?” We are in the midst of living in Psalm 83:3-4 right now. “They have taken crafty counsel against Your people, and consulted together against Your sheltered ones. They have said, “Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation, that the name of Israel be remembered no more.”

In verses 6-8 it lists out with great specifics the regional entities that conspire together to wipe Israel off the face of the earth. Philistia and the inhabitants of Tyre are mentioned in verse 7. Philistia is the modern-day Gaza Strip where Hamas has its headquarters and series of treacherous underground tunnels. Tyre, of course, is in Lebanon, where Iran has funded and placed over 150,000 rockets ready for use in this war.

The Israel–Hamas war began on October 7, 2023, when leaders of Hamas launched an unprecedented multi-faceted and sustained assault on Israel from the Gaza Strip. Some have stated that this would be a one front war with Hamas from the Gaza Strip only.

I have said from the beginning that this will be a long four front war fought on land, on sea, on air and on cyberspace.

I have also felt it could be launched from the Gaza Strip, rockets from southern Lebanon, from a revived faction of Fatah from Ramallah, plus an invasion in the sea in an attempt to take over the newly discovered oil fields. This does not take into account assaults from Syria and potential nuclear threats from Iran, etc.

This is not a one front war! This war has already lasted over 100 plus days. Early on, historians were referring to this as Israel’s 9/11. Now some refer to this potentially as Israel’s modern-day Holocaust. I believe it is time for warrior intercessors to arise like Rees Howells of the Swansea Bible College in Wales during WWII.

Now Is The Time!

You can make a difference; every prayer counts and every sacrifice matters. You can stand in the gap and be a history maker before the throne of the Almighty God! Now is the Time! You were Born for such a Time as This!

As I ponder on my closing, a phrase in a famous hymn comes to me where it says, “His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.” Well, if God’s eye is on the sparrows, then you know His gaze has never lifted from the center of His attention. That center is Israel, and His eye is ever gazing on them. Yes, you can have Insight by looking through God’s Eye upon His Word in this very Hour!
