After my wife Michal Ann graduated to Heaven in September of 2008, I wanted to do something special and lasting in her memory. Heidi Baker, of Iris Ministries in Pemba Mozambique, needed a safe place for the hundreds of orphan children that she cares for. So we agreed to build a Dreamers Park playground for her. It was a wonderful success.

Since that first Dreamers Park was built, we’ve been able to build 3 more in Cambodia. These parks give families a place to gather and children a safe place to play and dream again.

We’ve been given the opportunity to build another Dreamers Park in Cambodia in February, 2020. Would you partner with us to make this one the best one yet? We want to raise $10,000 for this project.

A Short History of Dreamers Parks

2010 – Pemba, Mozambique

Dreamers Park Pemba 2010Our first Dreamer’s Park was built in Pemba, Mozambique in June of 2010. We built the first Dreamer’s Park in honor of the life and legacy of Michal Ann Goll. “Dreamers’ Park – Every child can dream….” included a play area with swings, trapeze, a slide and a giant sand box for the toddlers. For the boys 2 rock walls, 2 swing sets, 3 giant slides, a fireman’s pole, a zip line, rope wall, swinging bridge, fort area, a tree house in a cashew tree, and a tire swing. Then for the girls there is a swing set, picnic table, giant slide, and a rock lined path with flowers and landscaped stairs in garden area.

We really did not plan to continue to build anymore, but things changed when we began working in Cambodia.

2016 Another Dreams Park Built in Poi Pet, Cambodia

In May of 2016, Compassion Acts partnered with our dear friends at Freedom’s Promise to build a Dreamer’s Park playground on the campus of New Life of Hope School and Church. At this location there were 265 students enrolled in the school, but there was absolutely nothing on which the kids could play.

Thank you to each of you who have partnered with us in building these wonderful places where children can play, imagine and dream of a better future. The first Dreamers Park was built in Pemba, Mozambique, to honor the life of our beloved, Michal Ann Goll, the founder of Compassion Acts. When we built the first park in June 2010 we never imagined it would grow into something we would continue to do all over the world.

2012 – Poi Pet, Cambodia

Dreamers Park Poi PetIn May of 2012 we built our second Dreamer’s Park in Poi pet, Cambodia.  As our relationships continued to develop in Cambodia we continued to see the need of safe places for children to play in communities all over Cambodia.  Our partnership with Freedom’s Promise, which is a human trafficking prevention organization based in Nashville, TN, has given us a great opportunity for us to become even more effective in reaching communities in need.  Freedom’s Promise focus is to prevent human trafficking thru community development.  Dreamer’s Parks have become key part of the strategy to build relationships in vulnerable communities.

Dreamer’s Park – Cambodia is the largest playground in the city of Poi Pet.  So on Saturday, before the team left to go back to the USA, we had an awesome time of dedication with leaders from Cambodia Hope Organization, XP’s mission team, and other local leaders.  A group of the children that live on the campus of Safe Haven had also prepared three songs to share with us.  Their songs were my favorite part about the dedication because this project is all about the children.  Dreamer’s Park is all about empowering children to dream.  In a country that has experienced so much destruction and pain, Dreamer’s Park is a prophetic statement to the children of Cambodia.

By Michal Ann Goll

This is the second in the classic series Michal Ann Goll taught while in her strength in a class she hosted on Compassion. Michal Ann challenges the renewed and empowered believers into actions and to have works that match our faith. A timeless message that will speak right to your heart.
