The Nehemiah Call

Restoring Prayer, Rebuilding Families, Reviving a Nation

BELOVED, I believe we are living in a Nehemiah moment. The spiritual lay of the land is full of broken walls and burned gates. And once again, the Holy Spirit is looking for those who will not simply survey the ruins, but who will weep, pray, and rise up to rebuild. When Nehemiah heard that the walls of Jerusalem were broken down, he did not rush out with a hammer. He sat down and wept. He mourned, fasted, and prayed before the God of heaven. Listen to his cry in Nehemiah 1:6: “Please let Your ear be attentive and Your eyes open, that You may hear the prayer of Your servant which I pray before You now, day and night.” Day and night. That is the language of a watchman. Nehemiah did not point a finger at the sins of his people. He identified with them. He confessed them as his own. Then he asked the Lord for favor to act, praying in verse 11, “Let Your servant prosper this day, I pray, and grant him mercy.” This is the Nehemiah call. Restored prayer always comes before rebuilt walls. What happened next is one of the great testimonies in all of Scripture. In the face of mocking, threats, and opposition, the people built side by side, each family working on the section of wall in front of its own house. Nehemiah 6:15–16 tells us, “So the wall was finished on the twenty-fifth day of Elul, in fifty-two days.” And when their enemies heard of it, they were disheartened, “for they perceived that this work was done by our God.” Fifty-two days! What seemed impossible was accomplished when God’s people prayed and worked together. I believe the Lord desires to do it again. Psalm 33:12 declares, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD.” As praying discerners, we have the privilege of standing in the gap and turning our faces toward Him on behalf of our land. But the rebuilding of a nation begins with the rebuilding of a heart. Before we ask God to change our cities, we must let Him search us. David’s prayer becomes our own: “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me” (Psalm 51:10–11). And 1 Peter 5:6 gives us the posture: “Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time.” Humility is not weakness. It is the doorway to divine strength. That is why I am so grateful to stand with the Nehemiah Alliance and the 52-Day Rebuild. I encourage you to go to NA52.org and join with believers across the nation in prayer and fasting. Visit GlobalPrayerStorm.com and download the new GPS APP so you can pray with us wherever you are. And I invite you to join us for the Sacred Assembly on Saturday, October 31st, 2026, on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., in person or by livestream. We will gather in united prayer, fasting, and repentance to rebuild our walls, restore our homes, and revive our hearts. The walls can be rebuilt. The gates can be restored. Revival can come to our land once again. Will you join me in praying the prayer below?

Blessings!

“Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time.”

1 PETER 5:6 · NKJV

Father, in the name of Jesus, I humble myself under Your mighty hand. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Let my ear be attentive to Your voice, day and night.

Like Nehemiah, I stand in the gap for my family, my city, and my nation. I confess our sins and ask for Your mercy. Lord, grant favor to those You are calling to rebuild.

Raise up watchmen on the walls and gatekeepers in every sphere of society. Restore prayer to Your Church. Rebuild our families. Revive our nation.

Bless our land, Lord, and let it be said once again that this work was done by our God.

Father, release the greatest outpouring of Your Holy Spirit. Send revival, awakening, and a great harvest for the sake of the Lamb of God, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Humble us, restore us, and revive us for such a time as this.

Amen and amen!
