Land for Peace Never Works – A Call for Divine Intervention for World Leaders

“In the Lord’s hand the king’s heart is a stream of water that he channels toward all who please him. A person may think their ways are right, but the Lord weighs the heart. To do what is right and just is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.” Proverbs 21: 1-3

Dear Friends,

This is James W. Goll with your monthly Global Prayer Storm Podcast message. I believe this episode carries unusual weight for the hour we are living in. The theme is bold, but necessary: “Land for Peace Never Works! A Call for Divine Intervention for World Affairs.” Our guiding scripture is Proverbs 21:1–3:

“In the Lord’s hand the king’s heart is a stream of water that he channels toward all who please him. A person may think their ways are right, but the Lord weighs the heart. To do what is right and just is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.”
Proverbs 21: 1-3

Throughout history, world leaders have tried to broker peace through territorial compromise, but it has always proved to be appeasement—not true peace. From Neville Chamberlain’s 1938 “peace for our time” deal with Hitler, to President George W. Bush’s support of Israel’s disengagement from Gaza in 2005, these efforts opened doors that led not to safety, but to greater conflict.

And now today, the same question echoes again: Are we repeating history? Whether in the Middle East, Ukraine, or even Taiwan—have we learned that land-for-peace only creates temporary relief while sowing seeds of future wars?

A Warning and a Call

Friends, this is not a time for compromise. This is a time for discernment, courage, and intercession. We need leaders with the spirit of Daniel, Joseph, Esther, and Deborah to rise with wisdom and boldness. We must pray that God Himself intervenes, shifting the hearts of rulers and governments according to His will and His word.

  • From appeasement to true peace.
  • From compromise to conviction.
  • From human strategy to divine intervention.

Pray at the Gates

In this podcast, I unpack principles from my Global Prayer Storm book (see p. 208) about praying at the “gates of the city”—where commerce, justice, and prophetic words meet. When we intercede at these gates, we move from being tail-bearing, reactionary intercessors to becoming forerunner intercessors who open doors for God’s purposes.

Here’s an excerpt from this section in the book…

“In ancient Middle Eastern cities, a city would have more than one gate, and they were connected by broad walls. At least offices would be represented or contained at the gateways of a city: commercial, judicial, and prophetic. Actual real estate transactions were handled at the gateway; deeds were transferred; signatures were collected. Court cases and judicial hearing were held right in the gate, and decision would be announced right there. In addition, prophetic words, the word of the Lord, would be delivered to the priests in the gate (see Proverbs 1:21; Jeremiah 17:19-20; 26:10-13). So at the gate, a person would find commerce moving, the justice system operating, and spiritual dynamics taking place.” With this view in mind, let’s pray for discernment all those who sit at the gates of our cities!  From Global Prayer Storm on Page 208

An Invitation

Together, let’s contend and pray for the exposure of deception in world affairs and for God’s righteous alignment to come. I believe our prayers can shift the tide.

Scripture Based Prayer

Father of Glory,

We come before You with trembling hearts, asking for Your intervention in world affairs. Where human leaders trade land for false peace, would You expose deception and bring Your righteous alignment. Turn the hearts of kings as streams of water in Your hand. Raise up Daniels, Esthers, Josephs, and Deborahs for such a time as this. Let truth triumph over appeasement, and establish Your purposes in Israel, Ukraine, the Middle East, and beyond.

In Jesus’ mighty name—Amen.
